Scottsdale’s Cactus Reining Classic and The Run for a Million Returns to WestWorld of Scottsdale With FREE Admission

Saddle up and hold on, the wildly popular Cactus Reining Classic, which has been viewed and streamed by millions on Paramount and CMT’s The Last Cowboy rides back into WestWorld of Scottsdale March 14th-22nd. Events will run from 8:00am-8:00pm every day.
The nine-day event offers FREE admission for spectators and more than 30 different western and reining competitions, from youth and amateur to professional with cash prizes, including the famous Run for a Million, as seen on Taylor Sheridan’s hit TV series The Last Cowboy where riders compete to win a million dollars. Sheridan is a co-owner of the event.
The show has been streamed by millions of people and is currently being watched in 55 countries. The first two episodes showcase the intense matchups between the best riders in American, including several of Scottsdale’s best riders as they compete to win it all and 10 top coveted slots and win it all.
Sheridan, an avid horseman, attendee and commentator at the Cactus Reining Classic is an Academy Award Nominee and the creator of TV’s number one show Yellowstone, and its prequels 1883 and 1923, as well as Special Ops: Lioness, and Landman. Indeed, The Last Cowboy was an idea sparked by the early episodes of Yellowstone.
Drawing more than 15,000 attendees the event is owned produced and organized by Scottsdale resident Amanda Brumley. Brumley held her first Cactus Reining Classic event in 2005 at WestWorld of Scottsdale and since then the attendance and prize money has grown to become one of NRHA’s top 10 annual events.
Often called the richest event in the history of reining and the most exciting and thrilling new event in cow horse and cutting, the top 10 qualifiers compete in The Run For A Million in Las Vegas in August.

Among the other competitions – a $20,000 Cactus Reining Classic Open Shootout which will run concurrently with the Open Derby and will show on Saturday, March 22nd, starting at 8:00 a.m. This is the third of three qualifiers that are offered. The top ten placings will join the five riders who already qualified at The Run For A Million 2024 Open Shootout, and the one qualified rider from the 2024 Equita Lyon, Lyon, France to compete for $1,000,000 in prize money at the South Point Arena and

Attendees can shop and dine. There are also meet and greets and opportunities to get autographs from Sheridan and some of the stars competing at the competition.
The annual competition, which brings horses, competitors and fans from around the world bring a significant economic boost to the Valley with an estimated 25,000 hotel nights reserved every year.
