The non-profit animal welfare agency, which opened in 1995 is based in Scottsdale and has helped to save thousands of animals’ lives, and continues to provide extensive medical care and behavior modification and training for animals waiting on their forever homes. "First and foremost, we'd like to thank Hinkley's lighting for choosing Foothills Animal Rescue! We appreciate the support of the company as well as their customers and community for supporting our mission to rescue, care and adopt out homeless cats and dogs. We are projected to invest an average of $2,000 per animal in our care next year to help them find forever homes and heavily invest in cats and dogs’ medical treatments. Every dollar counts and is greatly appreciated. We love collaborating and love the support we receive from the community," said Lana Shapiro, Director of Development.
Hinkley’s Lighting started helping customers back in 1910 and since then has helped hundreds of thousands of Phoenicians light up their homes and yards for more than a century. The Foothills Animal Rescue, which is located nearby has held a special place in the hearts of Hinkley's Lighting Owner Michael Jackson and his family.

This holiday season the family is not only hoping to raise several thousand for the animal rescue, but they also want to help find forever homes for as many of the dogs and cats as possible.
“As beautiful as our lights are, animals are the stars of our homes. They light up our lives and give us tremendous joy and here at Hinkley’s Lighting we love everything Foothills Animal Rescue is doing for animals in this community,” said Michael Jackson. “If we can help raise some valuable funds and get dozens of animals placed into their forever homes then there is no better gift for the new year.”

About Brynne Smith
Brynne Smith was a lively, outgoing young woman whose life was cut short when she passed away in 2013 at the age of 25. She deeply loved animals and cared about their wellbeing. She spent her life trying to transform the world. Brynne’s remarkable nature is honored through the Brynne Smith Memorial Campus of FAR, which celebrates her life and the lives of countless animals Brynne aimed to represent. The facility is a refuge for abandoned dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes, and a gathering place for the local community.
Smith involvement
The Smith family provided the initial gift that led to the Brynne Smith Memorial Campus in Scottsdale. Their touch is seen around the shelter, with an image of Brynne and her dog greeting anyone who comes inside, as well as the number 831 placed in various locations. 831 was a phrase Brynne used frequently, to remind those around her that she loved them - it stood for 8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning: I love you. The Smith family actively engages with the shelter and its mission as a generous donor and provides sponsored adoptions around dates with significance - most recently, they sponsored adoptions in late August.
