WHEN: Kids must submit their art in person at the Concierge’s Desk in the lobby of

OdySea Aquarium beginning May 20, Endangered Species Day, through World Oceans Day, June 8.

WHY: Young artists are encouraged to join OdySea Aquarium for a “Party for the Planet” in partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquarium (AZA) for an art

extravaganza inclusive of Endangered Species Day (May 20) and World Oceans Day (Jun 8)! Through this unique opportunity, kids will learn about endangered species and conservation as they create a work of art that represents an endangered land or sea animal with recycled materials.

Last year’s inaugural Conservation Art Challenge drew over 300 young artists to submit their masterpieces!

“Getting involved in this challenge is a fantastic educational opportunity that will allow children to celebrate the earth’s biodiversity, take much-needed conservation actions, and learn about animals that are threatened by extinction,” said Jess Tammen, Supervisor of Dive Operations and Conservation at OdySea Aquarium. “Researching the animals, learning of their plight, and deciding what to create connects these young people with nature to become stewards of the environment.”

To participate, kids must take these steps:

  1. Create an endangered species art piece out of recycled materials.
  2. Fill out the printable submission form available online at: https://www.odyseaaquarium.com/art-challenge/
  3. Bring completed paperwork + artwork to the OdySea Aquarium Aqua Lobby and earn one (1) Child Admission Ticket (for children ages12 and under)

The OdySea Aquarium Conservation Committee (team members from all areas of the Aquarium) will judge the artwork and award prizes to the best submissions. All artwork will be on display for visitors to admire in OdySea Aquarium’s Kid’s Corner Gallery!
