Butterfly Wonderland transports guests of all ages to the rainforest by immersing them in the world of butterflies and other rainforest animals.  Learn about Monarch migration in a captivating 3D movie, observe live chrysalis as they emerge naturally into beautiful butterflies, spend ample time strolling through the conservatory with the butterflies, get up close to unique reptiles that inhabit rainforests across the world, and even indulge in edible insects!

Bug Club

October 10

11 a.m.

Little ones can learn about amazing insects in this fun story time and educational lesson geared for children. After story time, experts from Butterfly Wonderland introduce the audience to multiple LIVE insects which may include walking sticks, beetles, giant African millipede, or something even more fascinating! FREE WITH ADMISSION. 


Buzz About Bees
October 17
12 p.m.

Learn about bees, maintaining hives and more from local Beekeeper Cricket Aldridge, founder of AZ Backyard Beekeepers. Visit her in the Conservatory at the Honeybee Exhibit. There will also be time for Q & A with Cricket. Honey is available for purchase in the Butterfly Treasures Gift Shop. FREE WITH ADMISSION.

 

Reptiles Up Close!

Every Sunday in October

2 p.m. 

In this interactive experience, enjoy an educational talk with Butterfly Wonderland Reptile General Curator Lindsey Meder. Learn about the many reptiles and amphibians that share the rainforest with tropical butterflies. There will also be a Q & A session with Lindsey. FREE WITH ADMISSION.

 

Got Milkweed? Kids Coloring Contest
October 1-October 31
Butterfly Wonderland invites children ages 6-17 to participate in this fun and  creative contest to win exciting prizes! The winning entry will receive a $50 Visa Gift Card plus an awesome Butterfly Wonderland kids’ t-shirt from the Butterfly Treasures Gift Shop! Visit https://butterflywonderland.com/special-events/ to choose one of four (4) coloring pages to download and let the kids’ imaginations go!  Creativity is key as the page can be colored with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. All masterpieces submitted will be judged on originality and coloring skill by several Butterfly Wonderland representatives. The Butterfly Wonderland Got Milkweed? Coloring Contest runs until October 31; only one entry per child. Entries MUST be dropped off to Butterfly Wonderland on or before October 31 and all works of art will be displayed in Butterfly Wonderland for guests to admire. The winning artist/coloring page will be announced on Butterfly Wonderland’s Facebook page on November 4. Enter today for a chance to win!

Fall Plant Sale with Botanical Event Sponsor Civano Nursery

9 a.m.­­– 4 p.m.

Time to get outside and replant the garden! Milkweeds! Blooming nectar plants! Butterfly Wonderland’s Fall Plant sale is the ONLY plant sale that sells varieties specific to attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees!  Create the perfect butterfly sanctuary in the backyard with plants grown by the garden professionals at Civano Nursery!  Plant prices range from $10.95 – $28.95 with proceeds benefiting the Butterfly Wonderland Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization supporting conservation-based, experiential education. Also available for purchase will be gorgeous hand-painted gourds, birdfeeders, and garden/fall décor.  Pick up a FREE landscape brochure to help with backyard planting.

 

Magic of Music and Butterflies!

Enjoy an incredible musical performance with the irresistible sounds from classical violinist Jonathan Levingston. This one-of-a-kind performance elevates the Butterfly Wonderland experience—even the butterflies agree! FREE WITH ADMISSION.

Vibration Emergence - Gong Meditation
October 21
5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Relax with gentle gong meditation in the Chrysalis Emergence Room. This hour-long class begins with a short walk through the Butterfly Conservatory followed by a guided series of stretches and meditations. Bring a mat, water, small pillow, and comfortable clothing. Butterfly Brush Strokes at Night

Plan a night out with friends or a special date at Butterfly Wonderland. Enjoy light refreshments while learning to paint a beautiful, abstract butterfly in this creative session led by artist Judith Nunez. Class is held in the Café. Supplies and paint provided. Waking Up with Butterflies

Enjoy an early morning photographing the butterflies, birds, or reptiles. Entomologist Derek Kellogg will be available to answer questions from guests about butterflies, plants, and the rainforest environment. Tripods are welcome. Ages 18 & up; $24.95+tax for public. National Reptile Day
October 23

Celebrate National Reptile Day with a meet & greet with Butterfly Wonderland’s loveable mascot and fan favorite, Puff, the Chinese water dragon in the Conservatory. Three opportunities to see Puff up-close: 11 a.m., 1 p.m.  and 3 p.m.


Butterfly Wonderland’s Halloween Themed Date Night - Painting A Halloween Butterfly

6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Get in the Halloween spirit and plan a spooky date night to Butterfly Wonderland with this unique painting class featuring artist Judith Nunez. Couples will learn to paint a beautiful, abstract butterfly and don’t forget to dress up! The couple with the best costume will win two adult general admission tickets to Butterfly Wonderland.
