Special Highlights of Aladdin 1992 vs Live-Action Aladdin 2019

Digital & Blu-ray Available Now!

By Veronica Leon Macaroni Kid N Scottsdale/PV Publisher - nscottsdale.macaronikid.com September 7, 2019

I was excited to be reviewing one of my favorite Disney movies. I mean who doesn’t love Aladdin?! It’s a special, classic movie that we all remember growing up watching and now sharing my favorite movie with my children makes it all that much special. The Blu-ray and Digital releases of Aladdin comes with extra new bonus and special features.

Disney's live-action “Aladdin" is now on Blu-ray and DVD and while the main story is still in tact, the remake takes a lot of liberties from the original animated classic.

Keep reading to see my top 10 biggest changes I saw during the live-action movie makes from Disney's original animated classic.

1. The "Arabian Nights" song at the film's start is completely revamped and expanded.

In the original movie, "Aladdin" opens on the song "Arabian Nights" with a peddler riding across the desert on a camel on his way to Agrabah. The story of Aladdin (played by Mena Massoud) and Jasmine (Naomi Scott) is then told to us by the unnamed peddler. The remake scraps this entirely.

In the 2019 film, a future version of the Genie recalls the story of Aladdin and Jasmine years later to his two children. It's one of the best changes the live-action film makes to the story in terms of the story. The peddler was merely telling viewers about a legend.

2. Aladdin doesn't steal any bread at the film's start.

Instead, he trades stolen goods for food and receives a bag of dates. When he spots a hungry family, Aladdin gives the bag of food to them. In the animated movie, Aladdin hands off his bread after a mad dash from guards during his opening song "One Jump."

3. Jasmine is in the Agrabah market from the moment the movie begins and meets Aladdin right away.

In the original movie, Jasmine sneaks out of the palace later on to head into the market to defy her father.

4. Jasmine has a handmaid named Dalia.

This is a completely new character who doesn't exist in the animated movie at all. Unlike the animated film, the Genie takes a romantic interest in Dalia.

5. Jasmine lies to Aladdin and tells him she's a handmaid to the princess.

In the animated movie, Aladdin finds out early that Jasmine is a princess when palace guards arrest him and she tries to prevent it from happening. Aladdin doesn't find out until later in the remake that Jasmine is actually the princess.

6. Jasmine gets her own song called “Speechless”

Jasmine teases the song easily in the film when Jafar hells her to stay silent.

7. Aladdin is arrested by the palace guards for a completely different reason.

If you remember, in the animated film, it’s because Jafar wants to get close to him. Jafar knows that Aladdin is the true “diamond in the rough” he’s been searching for to gather the magic lamp for him.

In the live-action movie, Aladdin is arrested for sneaking around inside the palace while trying to return the bracelet to Jasmine.

8. The Cave of Wonders is a big difference

In the live-action movie, the cave is much smaller and dark. In the animated movie, the cave is bright with several rooms before Aladdin finds the lamp.

9. Aladdin doesn’t meet the magic carpet like the animated movie

In the animated movie, the shy carpet sneakily approaches Abu and Aladdin before searching for the magic lamp.

In the live-active movie, the carpet is seen stuck under a giant rock and Aladdin come to its rescue.

10. Jafar steals the lamp from Aladdin, not Lago.

In the animated film, Lago disguises himself as a flamingo and sneaks into the palace to steal the lamp. In the live-action movie, Jafar walks past Aladdin discreetly on the street and swipes the lamp while passing him.

Disney’s live-action ‘Aladdin’ tries quite hard to live-up to the original animated film, but it is indeed a movie that everyone from all ages will enjoy. It sticks closely to the original movie and highly recommend watching. Maybe you will catch other highlights and share with us! It will give you all the feels, the nostalgic memories you had growing up thanks to its amazing, vivid song and dance sequels.

Disney Aladdin Magic Carpet and Movie Screening Party  🧞‍♂️

Over the weekend I hosted a Macaroni Kid Disney Aladdin Magic Carpet and Movie Screening! I knew right away how I wanted to share this with my readers and who I wanted to partner to show the magic side of throwing a super magical Aladdin party. I took the theme and threw a Magic Carpet and a Double Movie Screening with Chateau Luxe, special quests from Fair Maidens and Masks, party decor by Inner Space and Designs Events and AZ Sleepy Teepee and some yummy Aladdin theme cupcakes from Baked By Bee.

I had so much fun planning a Macaroni Kid Disney Aladdin Magic Carpet and Movie Screening party that I thought I would provide you some ideas on throwing your own Disney Magic Carpet party and maybe utilizing some of these amazing local businesses to help.

I contacted my friend Deepika Bhalla from Chateau Luxe and hosted my event at this gorgeous, luxury, one of a kind venue in Phoenix, AZ. We hosted over 20 kids and adults in the Valentin Ballroom. Chateau Luxe staff did an amazing job helping me with my event. My Disney Aladdin Magic Carpet and Movie Screening was the perfect location and theme. The staff went above and beyond to make my special event run smoothly. This is by far my favorite venue in Arizona. If your going to have any type of small or large event, this is the venue to do it. I mean look at these beautiful photos!

If you are anything like me, the decor is kind of a big deal when it comes to party planning. Here are some fun ideas that can help you throw an amazing Aladdin theme party. With the help of these amazing local businesses; Inner Space and Designs EventsAZ Sleepy Teepee and Baked by Bee I was able to have a magical event.

We also had a magic carpet craft where kids were able to use stencils, material markers and pillow cases to design their own magic carpet and if you like crafts, these kids did an awesome job bringing their own magical carpet designs to life.
