For those of you who follow me, you know that I just returned from an amazing staycation right here in Arizona. This staycation came at the perfect time, as the heat was starting to rise. My family and I stayed at The Westine Kierland Resort and Spa, which was ideal because it was far enough from home (15 minutes) where it was a true vacation, and close enough that we didn’t have to worry about any of the hassles of traveling!

Westin Kierland Resort & Spa is an incredible resort full of summer activities for kids and adults. When I walked in you can immediately see the beautiful details in the design of this building. The 360 view of a beautiful golf course and outdoor seating and lounging. The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa provides a summer escape featuring splashy savings, freezing family fun and adventures on a 250 acre home away from home.

This amazing stay started before I even walked into my room. I approached the front door, one of the valets gave us a huge smile and gave us a warm greeting, setting the time for a weekend filled with impeccable customer service. Once I made it inside we were immediately greeted by a great group of happy guest service attendants who quickly checked me and my family in. Guest service had given us a welcome gift filled with fun accessories for us to enjoy by the pool, along with a schedule called the Pathfinder filled with family fun and complimentary dinner reservations.

As we entered our room, I was immediately impressed and surprised with how open and spacious it was. As a bonus, our accommodations were on the 10th floor overseeing the golf course view in a standard room with two queen beds, sitting area, desk and a large family bathroom. Perfect for a family!

My favorite part of any vacation is the first moment when you are able to sit by the pool and enjoy a sip of your favorite drink. We lounged by the pool and enjoyed watching the kids enjoy the lazy river floating that rides down the 110 -foot waterslide, enjoy the poolside tunes, games, and more adult cocktails. The Westin Kierland provided the Pathfinder, a week brochure of all the activities scheduled for that week and boy there was a lot to do! The brochure also had A Westin Family Kids Club, Play Date Night with the fun team, Canyon Nights and best of all Big Chill Saturday’s! We enjoyed a polar plunge, DJ Entertainment, FlowRider and show and some incredible Jack’s Smokin BBQ.

On Saturday, my husband and daughter headed to the FlowRider Session. Endless fun and laughs watching them master some snowboarding and surfing. It a must try for the kids and highly recommend for the adults to try too. FlowRider is a surf simulator that combines skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding all in one with lifeguard instructions. A super fun activity! You have to be at least 42” tall to bodyboard and at least 52” tall to flowboard. The fee for FlowRider is $35 + a one time $15 registration fee. Want more than one session then try their Surf Camp! More information here: www.kierlandresort.com and video provided by Westin Kierland, www.vimeo.com.

After endless pool hours till 10 p.m., enjoying complimentary pool-side s’mores and headed to the Westin Family Kids Club. An exciting program for children 4-12, which includes games, activities, arts & crafts and so much more. My daughter enjoyed a hula hoop contest, tie dye t-shirts, bubble time and a kids pajama party. It’s definitely a resort we will continue to stay over the summer and perfect if you have kids.

We ended our staycation relaxing in our room, watching a movie and ordering room service. A perfect way to end our staycation and enjoy what it means so much to me, family time. For anyone looking to take a staycation, I would highly recommend The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa as your go to!
