Each year, bookstores and libraries nationwide are invited to join HMH Books for young readers and everyone’s favorite monkey in an event called Curiosity Day.
N Scottsdale/PV Macaroni Kid and Children’s Choice celebrated Curious George’s Birthday with Curiosity Day with such cuties! It’s not often I get to be a teacher for the day and this event allowed me to read one of my favorite books to these cute 4-5 year olds but also with my little one in tow. My little one is only 1 1/2 years old and seeing him enjoy hanging out with the other kids was just precious and enjoyed his experience with everyone else. This is why I love Macaroni Kid, because I get to enjoy these events with my kids and share the love with my community. Reading books is very important and starting early makes a big difference. Wether its a traditional book or your favorite childhood book, enjoy the moment and share it with your community.
Along that note, we added more fun to our event by adding activities and music to our celebration. The Curious George activity book was filled with coloring pages, connect the dots and took us through some fun activities along the activity book. We added some fun Curious George theme sunglasses, stickers, tattoos and some yummy theme snacks.

As we read through the book, George is a good monkey, but he’s very curious... We followed George as he curiously explores his city, gets into trouble, and saves the day. But with the help of friends they can find a way out and direct George back to the man with the yellow hat.
I was asking the kids their thoughts and really tried to engage them in the story. I loved hearing them engage and go along with George silly tactics and trying to find his way from all the trouble he seemed to be getting into. I mean who doesn’t like Curious George?!

The most original children’s books provided the kids lots of fun and laughs at George’s colorful antics. One of the great qualities of George books is that the adorable, curious monkey is always forgiven for his mistakes, and all’s well in the end. We read the super cute BIG Curious George book where kids also enjoyed looking through the other special HMH books.
Curiosity Day is an annual event held in September in honor of Curious George’s birthday and in celebration of a love of reading and learning. Our Macaroni Kid readers enjoyed a Curious George storytime, games, coloring, and celebrated with Curious George stickers, and lots of fun!
It is always held on or around September 16, which is the birthdate of Curious George creator H.A. Rey, and the honorary birthday of everyone’ favorite monkey, too! We had so much fun today at our Macaroni Kid Curiosity Day Celebration.
Published over 75 years ago, the picture book Curious George is a fun-filled story about one precocious little monkey with an endless sense of curiosity and a boundless love for discovery.
