Bender Performng Arts

By Owners Kevin and Meri Bender June 23, 2016

Bender Performing Arts began as the Betty Johnson School of Dance, a Phoenix fixture since 1974 with a reputation of excellence for its dance instruction. Owners Kevin and Meri Bender took pride in their curriculum, but wanted to offer the community they served even more. By 2006, that dream had been realized with the opening of a brand new performing arts center. The modern 14,000 square foot facility became home not only to the renowned dance instruction, but also private and group music lessons as well as acting and musical theater.

The faculty at Bender Performing Arts has well over 200 years of combined teaching experience. These instructors share not only their expertise, but also their immense passion for the arts with students from age three through adult.

The state-of-the-art facility includes five large dance rooms, a sixth dance room for our preschool programs, two private music rooms, and one group lesson room for music and voice instruction. Each classroom has cameras and TV monitors with playback capability to help track each student’s progress. Raised maple floors help ensure the safety of each dancer and large observation windows allow parents to monitor their children while in class.

At Bender Performing Arts, we are proud to offer an encouraging environment dedicated to instilling poise, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. We cater to the needs of children simply looking for a fun, healthy activity and those who want a solid preparatory background in the arts in order to pursue them professionally.
